By now you've probably seen or heard of a movie called The Secret.

It has been prominently featured on the Oprah TV show and has been aggressively marketed online.

The Secret is described as a self-help film and uses a documentary format to present "The Law of Attraction". The movie has been reported as a "self-help phenomenon", a "publishing phenomenon" and a "cultural phenomenon".

The Secret contains wisdom from modern-day teachers - men and women who have used it to achieve health, wealth, and happiness. The movie makes you aware of your power to change by using The Law of Attraction.

The Law of Attraction is the essence of the film's message. The Law of Attraction says that what you predominantly think about is what you attract in your life. It implies that anything is within your field of possibility if you desire it strongly, believe in it, and take action towards it.

The movie makes it sound like all of these revelations are new. However, they are not.

The New Thought book The Science of Getting Rich, published in the early 1900s, is the source of inspiration for the film and even that book was preceded by numerous other ones including the 1906 book Thought Vibration or the Law of Attraction in the Thought World by William Walker Atkinson and The Master Key System written in 1912 by Charles F Haanel.

It has been rumored that The Master Key System was the book that Microsoft's Bill Gates read when he was a college student and paved the way for him to become a multi-billionaire.

Many of these older books focus on how to use The Law of Attraction to attract wealth.

Money is a medium of exchange that is used by all people in a civilized world for product or services.

Money on its own is neither good nor bad. But maybe you have been taught that seeking money is bad?

People who associate money with greed and evil will never see the good money can do since the Law of Attraction will not bring positive experiences involving money into their lives. However, when you properly get into the mindset of attracting wealth, money will come to you so fast and furiously that you'll wonder where it's been hiding all these lean years.

It is all to do with where your intention lies.

The Secret is all about the power of intention. The "secret" is two-fold: first, the power of thinking good thoughts, and second, the fact that we hold the key to our happiness or unhappiness. The more you can feel your intention, the more power you are attracting it with.

You'll begin to understand the hidden, untapped power that's within you, and this revelation can bring joy to every aspect of your life.

Is all this really new information? I hope you can see that it is not.

As long as you keep in mind that The Law of Attraction has been known about and written about for thousands of years, The Secret does contain information that can be life altering but you can certainly look elsewhere for the same information, often for free and in much more detail.
