The New Year Celebration And Your TV - By: dror klar, Posted on: 2007-11-28

With New Year's Eve coming up soon, many people are wondering whether they should have a New Year's Eve party or not. If you have a big enough house to throw a good sized party in, you might be able to turn this into one of the greatest parties your neighborhood has seen this year, but in order to make it a great one, you may need to invest in a little sprucing up of your house and that starts with your TV.

Most people in the United States that celebrate New Year's Eve like to watch the ball drop in New York City's Times Square at midnight, so it is likely that the television will be the center of attention at one point during the night. Having a great TV is an important part of throwing a party that will at some point be centered around the television, whether it is a sports party, a New Year's Eve party, or a movie party.

Most problems with the TV come from the display itself instead of other electronic problems such as sound quality. It is either the size of the TV screen or the quality of the display. These days flat panel TVs are all the rage, since they make a great use of such a small amount of space.

While they are expensive, if you do not have a lot of space to work with, they can certainly be worth the investment, especially if you live in the city and need to make use of as much space as possible.

Sometimes the amount of programming available can be a problem, especially if you only have standard cable in your home. Satellite TV service is generally preferred over cable, since there are typically a number of pay per view channels that are made available, in addition to extra parental controls for households that have small children.

Concerts, sports events of all kinds, and movies that have only been released to theaters are often available to watch for 24 hours via pay per view and can be a great addition to any party or family gathering, especially when there are some members of your friends or family that do not wish to fully participate in the festivities.

Make sure you have plenty of food for everyone who is going to be in attendance. Alcoholic beverages are optional, but if you do have them, make sure you have a decent selection of non-alcoholic beverages to choose from, as well. It also would not hurt to have some headache medicine available, as well.

Another good practice, if alcohol will be available, will be to take up the car keys of each person attending if they intend on drinking alcohol. You cannot force them to give up their keys, but you should try to prevent anyone you can from driving drunk.
