Online Recruitment Makes Finding a Job More Successful - By: Arthur Manford Chambers III, Posted on: 2007-09-29

The Internet has opened up the world of online recruitment and made looking for a job simple in some manners and harder in others. It is easier because there are many job market directories that link those hiring to those looking for jobs. They allow you to search work in your field whether they are in your geographical location or not. They can provide you with a great deal of information on the current job market and tell you what you should do to stand out as a candidate.

As easy as it is for you to look for jobs, employers can also easily find online resumes. This makes it easy for recruiters and company representatives to locate potential candidates for their opening positions. It can also make it easy for your manager to find your resume listed online too. So, the same open and targeted structure of employment portals can be beneficial as well as a risk. If you are unemployed, the risks are smaller and you want everyone to be aware that you are on the hunt for a job. If you already working, this information can hurt your ability to get ahead at your job. So, the case for using online recruitment centers needs to be thought through by the individual for confidentiality.

This is the most difficult part to evaluate about online recruitment posting centers. You may see many jobs in your field and at salaries that make them look quite profitable. When you first apply, instead of reaching the person hiring you may end up with a recruiter who tells you the job is taken or a scamer who is trying to rip you off by switching you to illegal job opportunities. Most people get employed through a personal reference and even though job boards are useful, without an actual interview, the time you spend on applying can be wasted time.

After researching leads from online recruitment directories, you believe a company is not being honest or it is wasting your time, you inform them that you've changed your mind and don't feel you are the best match for their opening. This way you don't waste time with a company that show signs that they are hemorrhaging workers while continuing to look for other potential new hires. It will waste time that could be spent interviewing with companies that have a time-proven financial background and it will cost you money in transportation costs too. If you are an executive, you can count on the fact that those jobs will not be found on online job markets. You will find entry level jobs or jobs that are highly sought after, but not executive positions. The more desirable a job is the more likely it is not greatly advertised.

The reason for this is that human resources want to direct their job openings to qualified applicants. If they post a job with high pay on an online board, they will be overloaded with applications, whether they are qualified or not. So, human resources typically don't post these executive jobs online. Remember, there are a lot of ways to look for the perfect job. Investigate and make sure you are confident with the company that is hiring before getting caught in the web of online recruitment.
