It can be very hard and indeed frustrating at times to get your mind psyched for weight loss! Do you have only 10 to 20 pounds to lose or are you facing a monumental task with having to lose 100 pounds or more?

I know you have all seen the diets on TV Nutri-System, Jenny Craig and Weight Watcher's just to name a few. With most of these plans you are stuck having to buy their own foods to eat which can be cost prohibitive. Then you have to fix two separate meals one for you and the other for your family. Talk about time consuming! Isn't there an easier way to achieve weight loss?

Just about everyone is tired of yo-yo dieting. You know only too well how that goes. Lose 10 pounds and then a couple of months down the road you gain back the weight you lost and then some to boot. The thing is that most diets make you feel deprived.

The one very important ingredient to any weight loss diet is will power. There are so many foods that are on the restricted list especially if you are a fast food junkie like me. The first thing you have to come to realize is that those fried and greasy foods are doing you no good except for gradually adding the pounds on to your already overweight body. You have to put your foot down and just scream, Enough is enough. That's what I did, and I feel all the healthier for it. I don't mean that I fudge occasionally. I do, but then I get right back on my diet bandwagon.

The next thing you must do is limit the portions you eat. You can do one of two things. Either get your spouse or significant other to help you with this by putting the food on your plate or use a smaller plate. You will have to limit your portions in order to get all of the food on your plate. I used to eat enough for about 3 people. Now, my husband, who has been a real gem through all of this, has been fixing my plate and limiting my portions. When you buy food from one of the above diet plans, that's all they are doing, is limiting the amount you eat. You will pay through the nose, too! Why not do it the easy and inexpensive was by following my above suggestions?

The next thing you must do is get your body moving. You should try to take up walking. Many cities and towns have beautiful bike paths that you can do your walking on. If that happens to be too hard on your joints, then try taking up swimming at your local Y. You may even want to join a swimming aerobics class.

Another weight loss option for those of us who are morbidly obese is gastric bypass surgery. You must realize that this is going to be a total lifestyle change for you. I am now waiting for approval for this surgery. I have so many health problems that I know that I will die in a short time if I do not get it. If you feel this is your only choice, start weaning yourself off of your old lifestyle and into the new. No caffeine, no sugar, no sweets, etc.

No matter which weight loss method you may try, it will be challenging. When you see the results on the scales, you will get the feeling of self-satisfaction of knowing that you could do it all along!
