Tilburg is a municipality and a city in the Netherlands. Tilburg is surrounded on all sides by marvellous woods and scenic areas, a green environment where peace and quiet reign supreme. Until the 1960s, Tilburg was the textile capital of the Netherlands. All over the city, there are buildings that bear witness to that past. Around the city, there are still many weavers' houses, restored to their original condition. The major manufactures now include machinery, textiles, leather goods, and dyes.

The city got the title of the wool city of Netherlands. The wool industry has died but the citys Dutch Textile Museum shows how wool is transformed into material by under going various processes.

The city is a student-city. The Schouwburg Passage is a small shopping mall in the square also it is where the City Hall and Theatre are.

Tilburg's nightlife is concentrated around the Piusplein, Heuvel and Korte Heuvel. There are many cafes and restaurants around the Korte Heuvel, most of which have an outdoor seated area which provides some entertainment in itself. The restaurants in Tilburg offer a wide variety in prices and types of cuisine. Numerous Chinese, Greek, and Italian restaurants are located all over the city.

During the summer months May to September the city host numerous events, ranging from small garden concerts, via a culinary festival to Europe's biggest fun-fair.

Tilburg has the biggest pop complex in the Netherlands. It is a brand new building with three halls that can accommodate a total of around three thousand people. The building is called after the phone numbers of Tilburg, they all start with the digits 013.

The famous Tilburg funfair is the largest in Europe. There are about 230 attractions. There are also lots of quick food stalls and most of the cafes in the town have stalls set up outside to serve drinks.

Festival Mundial is held every year this internationally-renowned festival, which lasts two weeks, attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors to Tilburg. It is a splendid feast during which people from Holland enjoy a multicultural time full of international music. But there is also art and literature from all over the world.

Tilburg has a tiny zoo which calls itself a reptilian zoo, but which has a collection of other animals as well. Other inhabitants are for instance birds of prey, raccoons and tiny monkeys. You can walk or drive through with your own car.
