HGH Replacement Therapy For Treating Adult Growth Hormone Deficiency (AGHD) - By: Rod Richards, Posted on: 2008-05-13

Recombinant human growth hormone has the potential to be a revolutionary treatment option for adults who have a deficiency of human growth hormone, a.k.a. HGH. There is now evidence that many of the symptoms associated with adult growth hormone deficiency might be reversible with growth hormone therapy. It appears that there are no side effects even at low doses of the hormone.

Human growth hormone replacement therapy distinctly alters the make up of the user's body. Fatty tissue gets reduced and leaner body tissue develops. Developing leaner body tissue is related to such things as enhanced protein, and stronger muscles. After six months of human growth hormone therapy, fat tissue reduces, most notably in the visceral and trunk portions of the body instead of an arm, leg, or neck. This shows that human growth hormone replacement therapy will turn around the distribution of fat in the opposite direction associated with adult growth hormone deficiency (AGHD) and risks to heart and lung function.

Lipids may be helped by treating the patient with HGH. There is evidence that brief courses of human growth hormone helped reduce LDL cholesterol and this was associated with additional mRNA found in the liver's LDL receptor. One potential benefit of this association has not so far been studied with more extensive clinical trials. It must be said, however, that startling changes in serum lipid ratings is not always associated with treatments of HGH.

Testosterone injections can help the body's composition. It can also help a system metabolize lipids, improve bone density and cardiovascular function. It can even help psychosomatic well-being. Other issues that must be addressed are the official clinical definitions of partial and complete adult growth hormone deficiency (AGHD). You also need to clarify which tests will make the best analysis. Also, many are unsure whether the advantages are a result of pharmacological or physiologic HGH replacement.

Even so, it is easy to see that lower doses that are not related to a follow-up of HGH excess can be plenty to get the desired metabolic result. Research will determine the optimal amount and what the long-term side effects of HGH therapy will be. These effects on cardiovascular morbidity and mortality are especially notable.

Although HGH levels reduce as you get older, no one knows if attempting to hold those levels steady during adolescence is useful. Many believe that hormone changes related to age may provide indicators of physical aging. This effect has not been proven clinically with human beings. Some hormone substitution tests have shown salutary effects, but it has also been proven that negative side effects might also happen and manifest themselves as more risks from cancer, cardiovascular issues, and even behavioral problems.

HGH replacement therapy has been used to treat many metabolic and psychosocial abnormalities associated with adult growth hormone deficiency (AGHD). Although hgh replacement therapy may offer beneficial effects on serum lipid levels, more research is necessary to decidce how directly these levels are affected by this therapy. Many aspects of human development are affected by this synthetic hormone, including both lean and total body mass, bone density, cardiovascular function, and mental health. Therefore, extended clinical trials are necessary to determine the long-term effects of these hormones on your body, and to determine whether the benefits of using this therapy are worth the physiological and psychological toll this medication can take on the body.
