Great Places to Go on a Date - By: Jane Saeman, Posted on: 2007-08-17

One of the trickiest things to do is decide where you will go on a date. There seems to be plenty of choices, but there are so many variables to be taken into consideration that what should be a fun thing becomes a stressful experience.

Here are a few possibilities that cover a number of budgets and interests:

Cinema/Theatre/Concert
Check out what's showing locally. The more local it is, the less you'll have to spend on transportation to and from the theatre. Make sure that you choose something that both of you are interested in seeing; otherwise the date will be boring for one of you and the other will have less joy because of being aware of their date's lack of interest in the entertainment.

Outdoor Activity
One fun thing to do, especially on an early date, is to try something that neither of you have tried before, or something you haven't done since your younger days. This could be something as simple as roller blading in the park, to something as adrenalin pumping as sky-diving or para-gliding. The focus of this date isn't who can be the best or first to master the activity, but rather that you both start on an equal newbie footing and learn together. If you both have a good sense of humor this should be a fun date that you'll both remember for the right reasons.

Museum/Gallery
If outdoor pursuits aren't your scene, how about a trip to a museum or gallery? Find one that's fairly local if funds are low, and possibly even one that has free admission. With museums that cover everything from rock memorabilia to childhood toys, and of course, the physical evidence of history, if museums interest you both then you'll both enjoy this kind of date.

Picnic
If eating outdoors appeals to both you and your date, then a picnic is a great way to spend time together. You can either prepare the picnic in advance, or alternatively shop together for it on your way to your chosen picnic spot. This can be governed by where you live and your mode of transport -- local park, river...even the back yard, or perhaps a nearby beach. Picnics are informal and so are a great way to really get to know your date.

It's hard to keep a "best behavior" mask in place when trying to eat with your fingers! If the weather's not agreeable on your chosen day, don't let it stop your plans -- just change the location, even a picnic indoors can be fun if the company's right!

When choosing your date venue consider the following things: what will interest you both and what fits your budget. It's also a good idea to decide who will pay for what before the date begins so that you both know where you stand and a debate about money doesn't occur to spoil what was otherwise a great time!
