Granada lies in the foothills of Spains Sierra Nevada Mountains. The main attraction of the Costa del Sol is the many sun drenched beaches running from Gibraltar to the province city of Malaga.

The central governments economic resources depended mainly on the silk industry and on external trade.

Corral de Carbon is one of the oldest Moorish buildings in Granada. Historically the building was used as a coal store, in the 19th century. This beautiful patio with cobbles and original fountain is now home to the tourist board and various craft shops.

The prime daytime tourist attraction of Granada is the awe inspiring Alhambra Palace which should be top of your list of places to visit. The city has many more historic sites and places of interest including its delightful old Arab Jewish Quarter, the cave dwellings of El Sacromonte and some fascinating museums and art galleries.

At the heart of the Costa, only a short distance from Granada and the Alpujarras you will love the charm of this old white Andalucian pueblo. Unspoiled by mass tourism, with long wide beaches and near tropical climate there is every sporting activity you can bring to mind.

A massive castle constructed over many centuries on its hilltop position, consists of gardens, fortifications and sumptuous palaces and was home to the Arabic Sultans who ruled this vast kingdom. Here they created their vision of heaven on earth. Nowadays it is Spains most visited monument.

Do not miss the statues of the Catholic Monarchs carved by Pedro de Mena in 1677.

Granada is the jewel of Spain the long time capital of the Moorish Andalucia.
Granada is about 70km from the coast and its position makes it a town where you can go skiing and sunbathe on the beach the very same day.

The Royal Hospital, today seat of the recto rate of the University of Granada and the Carthusian Monastery. This is a building constructed in Baroque style far from the centre of the city, at Aynadamar.

This summer, set sail for Grenada. The pulsating beat of steel bands, drums and calypso, to Grenada Carnival and the Carriacou Regatta Festival.

First time visitors to Granada are surprised to find that the tapas culture thrives in this city. Not only are they good, theyre also free. Just order a drink and in most bars youll be given a tapa with it.
