There is an unusual new trend on the rise which is the art of making terracotta pot people. Not only is this a fun way of decorating your garden but it can also create a charming and unique garden design. Whether you are an expert or a beginner in this field it's a nice way of making new additions to your garden that have a twist.

When getting started with your pot people or even pot animals you don't even have to buy new pots. Old ones that you were planning on throwing away or even damaged ones are perfect and can save you a lot of money too. You can hide the bits that are damaged and arrange your figurine so that part of the pot isn't displayed.

Some people don't like using old pots because they are more discoloured than new ones. However, over time the pots are going to lose some of their original colour anyway and will end up looking the same as the older pots. There is nothing wrong with using new pots though and whether they are old or new they are both going to create the same great affect for your garden design.

There are plenty of things you can do to make your terracotta pot plant even more interesting. You can put a hat on the persons head, add gloves to make it look like they have hands and boots to give the illusion of feet. You can even paint the pots to make it look like they're wearing clothes.

Once you have finished your pot, in order to make it look even more attractive add some plants to your new decoration. This is a truly unusual way of displaying your plants and will be part of a garden design that not many people are likely to have seen before. Do make sure that the plants you have chosen are suitable for where you plan to put your artwork though. For example, if you want to keep it in a shady part of the garden then make sure your chosen plant will survive there.

Don't expect to be able to create the perfect pot person or animal the first time you do it. Like all art work it takes time and practice in order to get your desired result. The great thing about this is you can create a whole family of pot people while you're practicing. This will give you a garden design that is bound to get people talking.
