One important thing to look at would definitely be the cost of shipping and handling. When you do your price comparison these charges should be added to the price of the item. It is very much possible that an online coupon will give you savings on the price and yet the savings will basically just be eaten up by the shipping charges and handling fees (if any). However, if you consider the door to door delivery aspect to have saved you time, then the item is just worth despite the charges. It would be wise for you to always be alert of offers of free shipping and handling.

Most online retailers do not charge any sales tax at all so saving on the sales tax can make the deal much sweeter even if you will have to pay for shipping fees.

When it comes to special deals, pay extra attention to the rules surrounding it. Quite often, certain promotions are only applicable with a minimum purchase requirement so practically you wouldn't save if you had to spend much more just to obtain a discount or a free offer. It would be best to wait when you make bulk purchases or you and a friend could purchase together to reach the requirement. So even if you have to split the discount, you still saved a few dollars which is better than nothing at all. Also, you may be lured by freebie items that you actually still end up paying. Usually free items are given for instance when you have to purchase at least maybe three of a particular product. Basically you still end up spending more than what you were suppose to just to get the freebie. Don't ever make a purchase just to get the free item and make sure that your shipping costs are not increased by the freebie.

Always be wary of prices on certain products that are just too good to be true. If the price is just too low, there might be a catch to it.
